I bought a (2) stage snow blower from Tractor Supply 13 years ago this month, with a Tecumseh engine. Just changed the oil with synthetic 0w-30 (german castrol) or 5w-30 mobil/pennzoil every year, run the gas tank empty at end of the snow season, and changed the plug every (2 to 3) years.

It lasted about 3-4 years. Most of the small engine guys in my area won't even touch a Tecumseh, of course, it's Tecumsay, when they pronounce it. WebJul 16, 2024 · For those who still believe Tecumseh's are junk.I couldn't make one stop on a mower where everything was shot except the old Tecumseh engine which I didn't want and was part of a load to the scrapper. It ran for 20 minutes with no oil. It ran out of gas first. They were good engines but economics led to their demise.
