WebDec 2, 2016 · i have used both potassium nitrate and ammonium nitrate to degrade stumps. i live in an area with plentiful rainfall, and the nitrates tend to wash out of the drilled holes. i refill the holes after a month or so. the stumps get spongy/papery in four to six months. easy-peasy way to deal with stumps!
